FOSTER CARE PROGRAM
Education & Age-Out

FOSTER CARE EDUCATION PROGRAM
Many kids in foster care are dealing with various types of abuse, instability, and unhealthy examples of adulthood. Our educational workshops are focused on teaching them how to break negative cycles of poverty in order to ensure healthy futures. These workshops include other community partners (such as Southern Arizona Against Slavery, etc) and cover topics such as homelessness prevention, substance abuse prevention, healthy relationships, and more!
FOSTER CARE AGE OUT PROGRAM
Arizona is in a state of crisis when it comes to foster care. On average, we have about 14,000 kids in the AZ foster care system and only 4,000 foster families. Studies show that 1 out of every 3 kids who age-out will become homeless or incarcerated. Through our age out program, we assist those who are turning 18 with a full move in ready kit equipped with basic necessities such as toiletries, laundry soap, shampoo, pots and pans, etc. We also guide them into securing an apartment or place to live in order to break the cycle of homelessness and instability in their lives. These kits and one on one mentoring help set them up for success and healthy independent living.
